Getting Around

Once you have found something fun to do, don't let transport be a problem. There are loads of ways to get around in Nottinghamshire.

If you want to take the healthy and green approach, you could walk or use you bike. You might find the maps useful to find your way to the activities. If you are walking or cycling, make sure you stay safe.

If you want to use public transport, You might find the online journey planner useful or you can call Travel Line 0871 200 22 33 to find out what bus will take you there.

How to use the online journey planner

In the 'plan a door-to-door journey' box:

  • 'From' Type in the postcode or street you are starting from
  • 'To' Type in the postcode or street you are going to
  • Select the date and time you want to leave
  • Press 'Go'.

It might ask you to select where you are starting from or going to from list.
It will then give you some journey options - 'select' one, click 'details' and off you go!

Bus Cards

Easy-riders, which used to be known as bus cards, have recently become available for under 18's. They are designed to save you money if you travel to and from town at least once a day. You can have an easy-rider for different amounts of time for different costs. They allow you to travel on both the buses and the trams.

Cycling

Walking

Safe travel

Your safety is very important. Remember the following things when you are out and about.

  • Always tell someone where you are going and what time you are expecting to come home.
  • Keep your mobile phone charged up and with you. Make sure it has credit.
  • Walk in well lit areas and make sure you know where you are going.
  • Avoid any conflict or arguments with other people.
  • Don't flash the cash - keep all of your valuables out of sight.
  • Do not accept lifts from people you do not know.
  • Try to go to places with your friends.
  • Have a back up plan - what if your train is cancelled or your bus is late?
